Welcome to School!

Welcome to Goodna Head Start. This first step is an exciting milestone in your child’s life. Your child is about to begin a journey that will lead him/her on many roads of discovery and learning in preparation for the big step into Prep. At Head Start we know children are born ready to learn, and the experiences of their first five years last a lifetime. As such, Head Start recognises the importance of early learning and the unique opportunity we have to make a real difference to the quality of learning at our service.

Research has shown that children who start behind tend to stay behind. However, through early intervention, we can minimise risk factors and strengthen protective influences. Research shows that high-quality early learning that involves all stakeholders (i.e. school, teacher, child, family, community) has positive outcomes for all children. Given the chance to love learning, children embrace literacy and numeracy, skills which are vital for reaching their full potential.
